Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin ad rem.
Etymology: < classical Latin ad rem to the matter in hand, to the point < ad (see ad- prefix) + rem , accusative of rēs thing (see res n.1). Compare ad hominem adv., ad personam adv.
