Compare slightly earlier frostification n.The intransitive uses defined in N.E.D. (1898) as ‘to become frosty’ and in Eng. Dial. Dict. (1900) as ‘to become touched or injured by frost’ were probably based on an interpretation of e.g. quot. 1900 at frostified adj. as exemplifying a present perfect use of frostify with be as auxiliary.
