Etymology: < classical Latin fulgent-, fulgēns gleaming, resplendent, brilliant, use as adjective of present participle of fulgēre to shine < the same Indo-European base as blik v. Compare Middle French fulgent shining brightly (15th cent.).
1. Shining brightly, radiant; glittering; resplendent. Frequently poetic. Also figurative.
