Etymology: < full adv. + cock v.1, after half-cock v. Compare earlier full-cocked adj.
1. transitive. To raise the cock (cock n.1 17) or hammer of (a firearm) to the point from which it can be moved by pulling the trigger; to ready (a firearm) for firing. Also with the hammer as object. Now rare.
