Forms: Also Middle English plural fumes, 1600s plural fumers, 1500s–1800s fewmet.
Etymology: apparently < Anglo-Norman *fumets (*fumez) plural, < fumer (representing Latin fumāre) to dung. The continental French word in this sense was fumées, of parallel formation.
Obsolete or archaic.
The excrement (of a deer). rare in singular.
