Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek γαμικός.
Etymology: < ancient Greek γαμικός relating to marriage < γάμος marriage (see -gam comb. form) + -ικός -ic suffix. Compare post-classical Latin gamicus relating to marriage (1544 or earlier). Compare earlier gamical adj. With sense 3 compare earlier agamic adj. and also French agamique (1848, rare).
