Etymology: < scientific Latin globus pallidus (T. Meynert in S. Stricker Handb. der Lehre von den Geweben des Menschen u. der Thiere (1872) 727) < classical Latin globus globe n. + pallidus pallid adj.
Anatomy.
The smaller, medial part of the lenticular nucleus of the brain, which is paler than the adjacent putamen and consists of two segments. Also called pallidum.
