Etymology: < classical Latin grassātor vagabond, highway robber < grassāt- , past participial stem of grassārī (see grassate v.) + -or -or suffix.
Obsolete.
A person who makes attacks or otherwise behaves violently; esp. (a) a person who violently attacks or robs people; a footpad, violent assailant; (b) an oppressive ruler or governor; a tyrant.
