golden slam n. Sport (also with capital initials) the achievement of winning a set of important competitions in a particular sport in the same year; Tennis (also more fully golden grand slam) the achievement of winning all four major championship titles and an Olympic gold medal in a single calendar year (cf. grand slam n. 1c).In 1988, with the reintroduction of tennis as a competitive sport at the Olympics, it became possible to win all four major tournaments and the Olympic gold medal.
