单词 guile
释义

guilen.

Brit. /ɡʌɪl/, U.S. /ɡaɪl/

Etymology: < Old French guile = Provençal guila , Portuguese guilha ; presumably of Germanic origin, but no certain etymon is known, as the late Old English wíl , occurring only once, may itself be adopted < French, and Old Norse vél seems to be inadmissible for phonetic reasons. See wile n.
