单词 guit-guit
释义

guit-guitn.

/ɡwɪtɡwɪt/
Etymology: Echoic. Given by Hernandez (1615 Rer. Med. Nov. Hisp. Thes.) as the Central American Indian name of a bird which he describes as being no larger than a wren, green, and so courageous as to attack the raven. His description is repeated (after Nieremberg in 1635) by Ray ( Willughby's Ornith. Apparently 1678) whence the English currency of the name. The identification of the bird meant by Hernandez is uncertain.
