Etymology: < gynandro- comb. form + -morphous comb. form, probably after either post-classical Latin gynandromorphus (1835 or earlier) or French gynandromorphe (1836 or earlier as adjective).
Zoology.
Designating an animal (most often an insect) in which male and female tissues are present as a genetic mosaic in the same individual, as shown by markings or other features; = gynandromorphic adj.
