/ˈɡrəʊmɔː/, U.S. /ˈɡroʊˌmɔr/ Formerly National Growmore. A non-proprietary name for a standard preparation of garden (esp. vegetable) fertilizer first marketed during the war of 1939–45 (see quot. 1975).
