1. Used, usually attributive, with reference to a model of air flow in the Earth's atmosphere devised by Hadley in 1735 ( Phil. Trans. Royal Soc. 39 58) to explain the trade winds, as Hadley circulation, Hadley theory; Hadley's law, Hadley's principle.
