A Maori feast, typically held after a marriage, alliance, or other ceremony, and traditionally featuring a tall stack of food piled up in baskets (supported by a frame) in a rough pyramid shape.The holding of such feasts was largely discontinued towards the latter half of the 19th cent. after the introduction of Christianity, but has since been revived, the feasts now often being of a more general nature.
