Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French hasarderie.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman hasarderie, hasardrie gambling (first half of the 13th cent. or earlier) < hasard hazard n. + -erie -ery suffix. Compare slightly earlier hazard n. and later hazarder n.Compare post-classical Latin hasarderia (1388 in a British source). In sense 2 after hazard n. 3.
