A monk of the Hospital Brothers of St Anthony (see etymological note at Anthony n.). Later also occasionally: a member of a Maronite order founded in Lebanon at the end of the 17th cent. and still active in Lebanon and in communities of the Lebanese diaspora. Usually in plural.Cf. Antonian n. and Antonine n. 2.
