Etymology: < Hatti n.2 + -ic suffix. Compare German hattisch (1902 or earlier). Compare earlier Hattian adj. With use as noun compare slightly earlier Hattian n.With use with reference to the language compare Hittite ḫattili (of a text) in the Hattic language (as opposed to nešili in Hittite).
