Etymology: < head n.1 + -ly suffix2, originally after classical Latin praeceps (see precipe n.). Compare headling adv. 1 and heady adj. 1 and 2, all attested earliest in versions of the Wycliffite Bible. Compare also headily adv.
Obsolete.
In a heady manner; impetuously, precipitately; (also) headlong.
