Origin: Formed within English, by conversion; modelled on a Greek lexical item. Etymon: Hellenic adj.
Etymology: < Hellenic adj., after ancient Greek Ἑλληνικά (neuter plural) history of Greek affairs (also as the title of a work by Xenophon). Compare post-classical Latin Hellenica, title of a work by Xenophon (1833 or earlier).
Now rare.
With singular agreement. Writings on Greek subjects. Used esp. as or in the title of a work.
