Etymology: < French herborise-r (1611 in Cotgrave) ‘derived < herbe by confusion with the radical of Latin arbor tree: cf. arboriser’ (Darmesteter). Compare the more etymological herbarize, herbalize.
1. intransitive. To tend herbs or plants; to garden. rare.
