Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin hērēditas , -o- connective.
Etymology: < classical Latin hērēditas heredity n. + -o- connective.Found in a small number of formations, exemplified below, from the second half of the 19th cent.
Chiefly Medicine.
1. Forming adjectives chiefly relating to diseases or disorders with the sense ‘both hereditary and ——’.Recorded earliest in heredito-syphilitic adj. and n. (a) at sense 2.
