Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: histo- comb. form, pathology n.
Etymology: < histo- comb. form + pathology n., after histopathological adj. Compare German Histopathologie (1850 or earlier).
The study of abnormal tissues, esp. by means of microscopic examination; a branch of pathology dealing with this. Also: microscopic examination, or the microscopic appearance, of abnormal tissue.
