Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with English elements. Etymons: Latin astrologica , astrologic adj., -ic suffix 2
Etymology: Originally < post-classical Latin astrologica (neuter plural) matters or facts of astrology (1509 or earlier), treatise on astrology (1531 in the passage translated in quot. 1569) < ancient Greek τὰ ἀστρολογικά , use as noun of neuter plural of ἀστρολογικός astrologic adj. Compare post-classical Latin astrologice (4th cent.), astrologica (5th cent.), both feminine singular. In later use independently re-formed < astrologic adj.: see -ic suffix 2.
Now rare.
