单词 humantin
释义

humantinn.

Brit. /hjʊˈmantᵻn/, U.S. /hjuˈmæntn/
Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French humantin.
Etymology: < French humantin (1558 in Middle French), of uncertain origin. It has been suggested that the French word is a remodelling of lamantin (although this is first attested later: see lamantin n.), after humer ‘to suck in, to slurp’ (11th cent. in Rashi; of imitative origin). The word has also been compared with classical Latin humus ground, soil (see humus n.), on account of the humantin's habit of lying in the mud on the seabed.
