释义 | Huxleyn. Huxley's layer n. a layer, one or more cells thick, of horny flattened nucleated cells lying inside Henle's layer in the inner root-sheath of the hair follicle, described by Huxley in 1845. ΚΠ 1853 G. Busk & T. H. Huxley tr. A. Kölliker Man. Human Histol. I. 187 These [cells] which form a simple or a double layer (Huxley's layer) are constantly situated internal to the common, and as far as I have seen, always single, fenestrated layer of cells. 1889 A. H. Buck Ref. Handbk. Med. Sci. VIII. 471/1 Henle's layer is found represented by horny, polygonal, non-nucleated elements at a much lower level than Huxley's layer. 1890 Gray's Anat. (ed. 12) 61 The inner root-sheath consists of a delicate cuticle next the hair; then of one or two layers of horny, flattened, nucleated cells, known as Huxley's layer, and finally of a single layer of non-nucleated, horny, cubical cells, called Henle's layer. 1954 Physiol. Rev. XXXIV. 115 Above the lower bulb region [of the hair follicle], immediately central to the external sheath, is Henle's layer of the internal sheath. Huxley's layer and the cuticle are next in order. This entry has not yet been fully updated (first published 1933; most recently modified version published online March 2022). < n.1853 |
