1905 Power & Barrowcliff in Jrnl. Chem. Soc. LXXXVII. i. 885 The acids obtained from the respective Hydnocarpus oils consist chiefly of chaulmoogric acid and a lower homologue of the same series, the latter having been isolated..also from chaulmoogra oil. This new acid has the formula C16H28O2, and is designated hydnocarpic acid.
1927 Proc. Royal Soc. Med. 20 1011 Since early in 1921 we have used the preparations of chaulmoogra and hydnocarpus oils in our Hospital for Lepers, at Dichpalli, Hyderabad State.
1967 Martindale's Extra Pharmacopoeia (ed. 25) 494/2 Although largely replaced by the sulphones, hydnocarpus oil is still employed in the treatment of leprosy, especially in endemic areas in the East where it is cheap and readily available.
