Etymology: Middle English < Old French ydropique , -ike (12th cent.), < Latin hydrōpicus , < Greek ὑδρωπικός , < ὕδρωψ , ὑδρωπ- hydrops n. In 16th cent. conformed to the Latin: so French hydropique.
