Etymology: < participial stem of late Latin improperāre to taunt, upbraid (Vulgate and Petronius), Italian improperāre ‘to vpbraid, to twit’ (Florio), Old French improperer; compare late Latin improperium opprobrium, reproach (Hebrew xi. 26, in Vulgate).
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
