Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish arriero.
Etymology: < Spanish arriero (1490) < arre , interjection used to encourage pack animals (early 14th cent. as harre ; compare Italian arri (14th cent.)) + -iero -ier suffix.
In Spanish-speaking contexts: a person who transports luggage or goods by means of pack animals, esp. mules; a mule-driver.
