Etymology: < (i) Middle French imperceptible (late 14th cent.; French imperceptible ), and its etymon (ii) post-classical Latin imperceptibilis (from 13th cent. in British and continental sources) < im- im- prefix2 + perceptibilis perceptible adj. Compare earlier unperceptible adj. Compare also unperceivable adj.Compare Spanish imperceptible , Portuguese impercettível , Italian impercettibile (all 16th cent.).
