Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: im- prefix1, personize v., -ation suffix; impersonize v., -ation suffix.
Etymology: Originally < im- prefix1 + personize v. + -ation suffix, probably as an alteration of impersonation n. In later use partly also < impersonize v. + -ation suffix. Compare later personization n. Compare also earlier impersonation n., impersonification n.
1. The action of representing or imagining an immaterial thing or abstract quality as a person or being; personification. Also (and in earliest use): an example of this; a personification or embodiment of a quality, idea, etc.
