Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a German lexical item, or perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: immanent adj., -ism suffix.
Etymology: < immanent adj. + -ism suffix, perhaps after German Immanentismus (1904 or earlier) or its possible model French immanentisme (1899 or earlier). Compare Italian immanentismo (1908).
Philosophy and Theology.
The doctrine of or belief in immanence, esp. the immanence of God.
