Govt. 99 Some [bloodshed] sprung from sudden passion, but other was forethought and purposed; which last they called Abere murther, or murther by foreplot or treachery. 1763 New & Compl. Dict. Arts & Sci. (ed. 2) I. 6/1 Aberemurder, aberemurdrum, in our old law books, murder proved in a judiciary way. Aberemurder was a crime that could not be atoned for with money, as most others might. 1772 H. Law I. 9/1 Aberemurder, Aberemurdrum, in the laws of Canute, c. 93, and of Henry I, c. 13, this meant wilful murder, as distinguished from manslaughter and chance-medley.
