Etymology: < post-classical Latin informator teacher, instructor (early 3rd cent. in Tertullian), adviser, counsellor, informer (from 14th cent. in British sources) < classical Latin informāt- , past participial stem of informāre inform v. + -or -or suffix. Compare French informateur (see informer n.). Compare earlier informer n.
Now chiefly historical.
An instructor, a teacher. In later use chiefly: = informator choristarum n.
