Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin informitat-, informitas.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin informitat-, informitas shapelessness, formlessness (late 2nd or early 3rd cent. in Tertullian), deformity, ugliness (from 12th cent. in British sources) < classical Latin informis inform adj.1 + -tās (see -ty suffix1; compare -ity suffix). Compare Middle French, French informité (1586), Italian informità (a1342 in Florio).
Now rare.
The condition of being unformed, shapelessness; misshapenness, deformity. Also figurative, with reference to manners or intellect.
