Etymology: probably < French indiscret, -crète (though this is cited only of 16th cent. in Hatzfeld & Darmesteter) = Italian indiscreto , Spanish indiscreto ; or directly < Latin indiscrētus , in a late or medieval Latin sense: see note to discreet adj. The direct representation of the Latin word in its classical sense is indiscrete adj.
