Etymology: < astronomy n. + -ize suffix. Compare French †astronomiser to practise astronomy (1640 in an apparently isolated attestation; after Italian astronomizzare (1598 in Florio; now rare)). Compare botanize v.
intransitive. To pursue astronomy; to observe the night sky; (also) to act or speak astronomically.
