1. Chiefly in plural. Each of a set of a small objects, typically pebbles or (in later use) star-shaped pieces of metal or plastic, used for playing the game of jacks (see Jack n.2 21g(a)); = Jack n.2 21g(b). Also sometimes more generally: a small round stone or pebble.
