Origin: A borrowing from Afrikaans. Etymon: Afrikaans kafferboetie.

Etymology: < Afrikaans kafferboetie (1933 or earlier; < kaffer black South African (see Kaffir n.) + boetie little brother (see boetie n.)), in α. forms with alteration of the first element after Kaffir n.In form Kaffirboetjie with remodelling of the ending after Afrikaans diminutives in -tjie , e.g. outjie outjie n., poffertjie poffertje n.

South African (derogatory and offensive). Now in diminishing use.

A white person considered overly friendly or sympathetic to black people, or perceived to be working for their welfare. Cf. white kaffir n. 2b, nigger-lover n. at nigger n. and adj. Compounds 2a(a).
