Heat ix. 354 The conductivity of hydrogen is about seven times as great as that of air under similar conditions, and this has been made the basis of an instrument called the ‘katharometer’ (or purity tester) originally designed by Shakespear and Daynes for detecting the leakage of hydrogen through balloon fabrics.
