Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Law French justicement (French †justicement ) administration or enforcement of justice (c1200 in Old French as justisemant ; in Anglo-Norman also in sense ‘trial, judicial procedure’ (1256 or earlier)) < justicer justice v. + -ment -ment suffix. Compare earlier justicing n.Quot. 1670 at sense 1 refers to, and reproduces, E. Coke's gloss (in his 2nd Pt. Inst. Lawes Eng. (a1634)) of a late 13th-cent. occurrence of Anglo-Norman justicement.
