Origin: A borrowing from Japanese. Etymon: Japanese kyūdō.
Etymology: < Japanese kyūdō < kyū- bow ( < Middle Chinese) + -dō way, spiritual discipline (see budo n.).

The Japanese martial art of longbow archery, incorporating set rhythmic movements, and typically practised in a meditative state.
