With plural agreement: a small phylum of minute invertebrates that occur in marine mud and sand, characterized by a retractile spiny head and a segmented body; (also) animals of this phylum (collectively or individually).The Kinorhyncha are thought to be related to rotifers and nematodes, and they were formerly regarded as a class of the phylum Aschelminthes.
