Etymology: < French kir royal ( < kir kir n. + royal royal adj.), in α. forms with remodelling of the second element after French royale, feminine of royal, adjective, probably to emphasize pronunciation with stress on the second syllable. Compare earlier kir n.
A drink made from champagne (or sparkling white wine) and cassis. Cf. kir n.
