Etymology: < classical Latin latēscent-, latēscēns, present participle of latēscere, inchoative of latēre to be hidden (see latent adj.).
Now rare.
That is or is becoming latent, hidden, or obscure. In later use with reference to the social behaviour of the Menominee Native Americans.
