Used attributively with reference to a method of X-ray diffraction developed by Laue in which a narrow parallel beam of polychromatic X-radiation is directed at a thin crystal and the resulting diffraction pattern is recorded on a photographic film placed either in front of the crystal (with a hole for the passage of the incident beam) or beyond it; as Laue method, Laue pattern, Laue photograph.
