Any of various preparations containing killed Mycobacterium leprae (the causative agent of leprosy), used in skin testing originally for the diagnosis and later for the classification of cases of leprosy. Cf. leprolin n.Lepromin was originally obtained from sterilized human lepromatous tissue, and later also from infected animal (esp. armadillo) tissues.
