单词 ligure
释义

liguren.

/ˈlɪɡjʊə/
Forms: Also Middle English lugre, ligurie, ligury, 1600s lygure. Also in Latin form ligurius, (1500s ligurios).
Etymology: < Latin ligūrius (Vulgate), < Greek λιγύριον (Exodus xxviii, Septuagint), apparently a variant of a word which appears in many different forms, as λαγούριον , λαγγούριον , λυγγούριον , λυγκούριον ; the last of these (adopted in late Latin as lyncūrius ) is connected with the mediæval notion that the stone was a concretion of the urine of the lynx (Greek λυγκ- , λύγξ lynx, οὖρον urine). The word may conceivably have some connection with the source of azure n. and adj., lazuli n.
Some precious stone.
