Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin locuplēt-, locuplēs.
Etymology: < classical Latin locuplēt-, locuplēs wealthy, rich, rich (in), well supplied (with), ample, considerable, full, copious < locus place (see locus n.1) + the stem of plēre to fill (see opplete v.). Compare slightly earlier locupletely adv. N.E.D. (1903) gives the pronunciation as (lǫ·kiŭplīt) /ˈlɒkjʊpliːt/.
Obsolete (rare in later use).
Ample; richly supplied.
